Boateng Consider Leave Bayern Munich, This is the Reason
Germany center-back Jerome Boateng is reportedly considering leaving Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
Boateng, who joined Bayern from Manchester City in 2011, has been a key member of the Bayern team which won five consecutive Bundesliga titles. But his thigh injury at Euro 2016 and his injury problems left the 29-year-old only featured in 13 Bundesliga matches last season.
In an interview with Kicker, Boateng explained that he was contemplating whether it was time to start a new moment. And he explained his thoughts to the Bayern highs when Carlo Ancelotti is still in charge at the Allianz Arena.
“I chatted with the directors about how they saw me this summer, I said I thought about it (to be transferred to another club),” he said.
Asked about the reason why he did not play in some important matches under former coach Carlo Ancelotti, Boateng added: “Maybe because I did not play much with him as coach, he also saw me because of my injury.
Boateng were not in the Bayern squad when they suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in Champions League last month and Ancelotti was sacked the following day.
With the return of Heynckes, who brought Bayern to the treble in 2013, Die Roten immediately won 5-0 over Freiburg on Saturday. Boateng also said: “His attitude that he wants to give something more to FC Bayern is very positive for us as a team.”
“Not many managers have a strong sense of how to deal with players, their approach, their training and their motivation,” he concluded.
Bayern are currently second in the Bundesliga standings with 17 points. They are still two points behind Borussia Dortmund until the 8th week, but still have a great chance of defending the Bundesliga title. In the next game, Bayern will face Celtic in Champions League competition. (Source: Four Four Two, Kicker)
